Jake Paul ad Mike Tyson announced they will be fighting each other on July 21 as the reactions from the world of sports and entertainment started flooding in. One of these reactions came from former Redskins aurterback Robert Griffin III, who posted a video of Mike Tyson training with pads at 57 years old. We say ‘Iron Mike‘ getting ready to fight Roy Wood Jr. when he made a brief return to the sport. That fight was far more mellow than people expected and nobody was declared the winner. Folks expect this new fight between Tyson and Paul to be different, especially since Jake is trying to become a professional boxer.
Fighting Mike Tyson would be a step in the right direction and his age is not something people should worry about, as RG3 confirmed in a recent tweet. The former NFL star posted a fairly recent video taken weeks ago of Mike Tyson training with the pads and looking sharp. Despite being 57, we are still talking about one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. Certainly the most feared in history. Griffin used the same quote that keeps repeating itself from people who are not up to speed on Mike Tyson’s fitness. It’s this one: “Fighting Mike Tyson at 57 will be easy.” Then Griffin shoed that video of Mike training at that age. You be the judge.
What about Mike Tyson’s recent physical issues?
It’s true, we have seen Mike Tyson on a wheelchair and using a cane in recent years, he is definitely not the same guy he was in his ’20s. Jake Paul definitely has more stamina than Tyson does. But we can’t also help but think about how many times an old man beat the crap out of a young fella with his experience. Tyson has been in far more professional fights than Jake Paul has and did we mention he is still Mike Tyson? People have described Mike as a wild lion before simply by looking at him. Let that sink in.
